12 injured after jumping off burning train

More than 12 passengers were injured when they tried to jump from a moving train, the engine of which caught fire, betweeen Thave and Kaptanganj railway stations of the North-Eastern Railway in Kushinagar district in Uttar Pradesh.

According to an NER spokesman, the engine of 242 up passenger train suddenly caught fire on Tuesday due to heat. However, the blaze was extinguished in time due to the efforts of the guard, driver and some passengers.

The train was later brought to Badaharganj railway station where the engine was replaced.
