President undergoes surgery

President K R Narayanan underwent surgery Thursday morning at a Delhi hospital for removal of gall bladder stones.

"It was a successful surgery and the President is recovering," Ganga Ram hospital sources said.

Narayanan was operated upon by a team of doctors led by the head of the minimal access surgery department, Dr Pradeep Chaubey.

A Rashtrapati Bhavan communique had earlier said that the President will not receive any visitors.
