Fr Leo Forestel SJ, who taught King Birendra at St Joseph's School at Darjeeling in the 50s, burst into tears when he heard that the Nepali King had fallen victim to regicide.
"He was average, but disciplined, remarkably well-behaved and sincere when he was a student from 1953 to 1958," Forestal, now 72 and retired, told PTI over the telephone from Darjeeling.
"I pray to God may his soul rest in peace", he said.
The school authorities said that St Joseph's would hold a condolence meeting on Monday.
