TN govt to file case against Karunanidhi

The Tamil Nadu government will file a case against former chief minister M Karunanidhi, based on Sarkaria Commission recommendations on the Veeranam scandal, Chief Minister J Jayalalitha told the state assembly on Friday.

Replying to a debate on the motion of thanks to the governor for her address, Jayalalitha said the commission had indicted Karunanidhi in the scandal.

The Veeranam project was to bring drinking water to the city, from Veeranam lake in Cuddalore district.

Jayalalitha said it was a specific case and hence the government would move the court on the issue.
