The mortal remains of dacoit-turned-politician Phoolan Devi would be consigned to flames on the banks of river Ganges at Choubey Ghat in Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh at 1500 hours on Thursday.
The Samajwadi Party MP's body would be flown to Varanasi from Delhi at 1300 hours in a private aircraft and taken by road to Mirzapur for the cremation, party general secretary Amar Singh told reporters.
Singh said SP President Mulayam Singh Yadav and some other senior party leaders would accompany the body.
Phoolan Devi was shot dead by three masked assailants at the gate of her New Delhi residence on Wednesday afternoon.
