Militants kill two in Tripura

Militants belonging to the National Liberation Front of Tripura shot dead two persons, including a state government employee, at Mohanpur in Tripura's Dhalai district Wednesday night.

Police said Thursday that four armed NLFT militants attacked the house of one Krishna Singh, an employee of the state agriculture department, and shot him dead. Singh's brother, also injured in the attack, was admitted to a nearby hospital.

The militants also killed another person, who has not been identified as yet.

Meanwhile, the ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) has called for a 12-hour Kamalpur bandh Thursday to protest against the killing.

Shops and business establishments downed their shutters. Educational institutions, government offices and banks also remained closed.
