Condolence Message:There are no words which can explain the pain and grief caused to the people of Gujrat. The quake outlines our weakness of being reactive always to these kind of situations.Words like Disaster management are good only on paper not in actual practice. It is high time we become proactive on this kind of issues otherwise these tragedies will repeated in the time to come. God save the people... I was really angry with the Organisers of "Femina Miss India Contest"...At least they should have postponed the event for few days... This shows their lack of concern...

Condolence Message:death is a tragedy which every man fears ....but like this it send shivers throughout the world . i cant say much but can feel what it would be like there , feel sorry for all those who have lost their near and dear ones which no one can replace . i have always known that we indians may live in seperate cultures , religious backgrounds or beliefs but when anything happens we are together and we will surely get over this ... perhaps it may take long but we will . i would also like to request the politicians , the netas and the administrators who are there not to ploiticise the entire issue .. work together and ensure that the people bless them and all the funds and the materials pouring in from all over the world channelised to help our countrymen who have suffered .i also offer my condolences to our brothers and sisters in pakistan who have lost their families ... the gesture on part of the pakistan government to send relief and the indian governments acceptance proves that boundries do not stop feelings and sorrows faced by us .

Condolence Message:My sincere condolences to the families affected in the quaqe. Rangoli or known as Kolam in South India was one of our Natural Disastor Indicators followed by our ancestors. These powdered rice designs were put in front of holy places of worship and some houses. Every day ants used to feed on the rice powder. Animals have the sense of fearing danger well in advance . They act as harbingers which is the property of knowing the occurance of a natural calamity. Coming back to the kolam, it remained on the floor if the ants did not eat it. This gave our ancestors a warning signal and they acted well in advance, moving off to a safer place. Due to poverty people now put designs using limestone which shoos away the ants. If one kolam/rangoli was put by the flat association , or any of the groups we belong to, and the cost shared by all, then this could be used as a disaster signal. But as my wife said, nowadays people do not have the time to watch whether the ants ate it and they are in the modern quicky lifestyles.. Try to spread the word to whom ever you know. Regards :-) Nagaraj

Condolence Message:Once again the Indian Government fails its people!!! Tradegy after tradegy occurs year after year and we continue to be unprepared. Just recently, cyclones caused havoc in Orrisa, people lost lives in train accidents in North India, and now rescue efforts are once again hampered and delayed because of lack of heavy lifting and moving equipment. Our brothers and sisters in Bhuj and Ahmedabad have suffered and died in agony as it was not possible to retrieve their injured bodies in time. In such circumstances what right has the Governement to talk about inconsequential matters such as Temple building, and what right does it have to spend tax payers money on building Nuclear Arsenals. I would rather be convinced that the Government had the neccessary machinery at hand to rescue me if I was covered with rubble. I also wonder how much of the millions of dollars pouring in from all parts of the world, will be effectively used for rescue and rehabilitation, and not for deeply lining the pockets of concerned politicians and other such crooks. I call upon all Indian politicians to resign their portfolios and take up kar seva to provide decent funerals to the people they could not save. Maybe then they have some hope of salvation from their sins of negligence and lack of caring. Hey Ram, India ka kya hoga??!!

Condolence Message:I am not able to see the news without getting tears in my eyes. The visuals are just too shocking. I can very well imagine the horror my fellow countrymen in Gujrat are going through. May God be with you all through this hour of great need. Hope you receive all the help. A special word for the NGO guys, especially the RSS and the Armed Forces - You are doing a great job. Just keep going... the whole nation is wih you. Please collect the money that is being sent, for only you can do a credible job of rebuilding Gujrat. Do not give it into the hands of the Govt. The money will surely be eaten. I just hope the funds go to the people in need. My family prays for the dead. May their souls rest in peace. But I do know one thing...once the Gujratis get over the initial shock they will work hard to rebuild their state...and in no time Gujrat will be back on track.

Condolence Message:In this hour of grief let us also remember the victims of the calamities in Orissa (1999) and West Bengal (2000). In spite of their great suffering in the hand of nature, they received only callous neglect and criminal politicking of Vajpayee cabinet instead of moral and material support expected from a government of a civilized country. In both the mishaps the helpless state governments got only jeers from both union government and the media. Let us sincerely hope the people of Gujrat will have better luck. Let us also hope that the assistances those are pouring-in won't be looted by the sharks as in Bhopal tragedy.

Condolence Message:DEAR FELLOW INDIANS, It is indeed very tragic for such a devastating earth quake to strike our country. Death is a great leveller. Nature has not differentiated the rich or poor, Hindus or Muslims or Christians. LET US ALL RISE ABOVE OUR PETTY MINDS. LET US STAND UNITED. LET US ALL CONTRIBUTE - BY WAY OF CASH AND KIND, AND MORE IMPORTANT BY PROVIDING MORAL SUPPORT TO ALL THOSE AFFECTED. MY DEAR FELLOW CITIZENS OF GUJARAT … WE ARE ALL THERE WITH YOU IN YOUR HOUR OF GRIEF. MAY THE GOD ALMIGHTY GIVE THOSE AFFECTED THE COURAGE TO FACE THE REALITY. LET US ALL FACE THIS CHALLENGE TO OUR COUNTRY. LET ALL INDIANS WORK HARD TO REBUILD A MORE PROSPEROUS GUJARAT STATE. LET THIS BE A LESSON FOR ALL HUMANITY – TO FORGET THE PETTY DIFFERENCES. LET US ALL SHED OUR COMMUNAL AND CASTE BARRIERS. JAI HIND.

Condolence Message:I write this with a sense of deep despair and frustration that here in santiago chile the embassy doesn't seem to have any setup for accepting donations to the Prime minister's relief fund. Just now i rang up to check only to be informed that nobody has approached them in this regard and they don't have any information regrading such efforts. I was advised to contact some international relief agency like the International red cross. But I am sure they will have a condolance book out and ready if God forbid something happens to our leaders and masters. If there's any indian staying in santiago Chile out there i would be grateful for his advice.
