FIR finally lodged against Sadhu Yadav

Soroor Ahmed in Patna

An FIR was finally lodged against Sadhu Yadav, brother of Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi, on Monday for intimidating a senior IAS officer about two weeks back.

However, since the sections under which the case was lodged were bailable, Sadhu Yadav obtained bail from the police station.

Patnas Senior Superintendent of Police Sunil Kumar, ordered registration of the case against Sadhu Yadav after he received a letter from Transport Secretary N K Sinha on Saturday.

Sinha narrated the sequence of events, which took place in his office on the evening of January 18. The SSP forwarded Sinha's letter to the Shashtrinagar police station with a note that 'since the charges are cognizable offences, an FIR be lodged under relevant sections'.

Sinha's letter said that Sadhu along with 15 henchmen, which include two of his bodyguards, stormed into his official chamber at 1830 hours while he was holding an official meeting.

The controversial MLA forced Sinha to sign the transfer order of an official of his department to Gopalganj, the assembly constituency, which Sadhu Yadav represents, at the gun-point.

Explaining the reason for delay in complaining to the police, Sinha said that he gave a written complaint to Chief Secretary Mukund Prasad on the day the incident took place. He was under the impression that Prasad would forward the letter to the DGP through the home secretary.

However, since nothing happened he was forced to file a formal complaint.

The IAS Association has mustered courage to start a campaign against Sadhu Yadav, but only after Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Laloo Prasad Yadav dissociated himself from the alleged misdeeds of Sadhu and also said that he had no relationship with his brother-in-law for the last three or four months.
