Bugs trouble Shah, court allows bedding in jail

A special court Monday allowed film financier Bharat Shah to meet his wife, two sons and daughter in police lock up, besides permitting him to use bedding and blanket in the cell.

Hearing an application by Shah's lawyer Shiraz Rahimtoola, the designated judge A P Bhangale, however, allowed Shah to meet his family members one at a time and not all of them together.

Special public prosecutor Rohini Salian, after seeking instructions from investigating officer, gave no objection to Shah meeting his family members provided he met them one at a time to facilitate ongoing investigations.

The court also permitted Shah the facility of using bedding and blanket as his lawyer alleged that the lock up was full of bugs and mosquitoes.

Shah, facing charges of alleged nexus with Karachi-based gangster Chhota Shakeel, has been remanded to police custody till February 1 when the court will hear his bail plea.
