V Ranganathan takes over as
chief secretary of Maharashtra

Senior IAS officer V Ranganathan on Wednesday took charge as the chief secretary of Maharashtra. Ranganathan succeeds Arun Bongirwar, who has proceeded on long leave.

Addressing a press conference after taking over charge on Wednesday afternoon, Ranganathan said he would implement a people-oriented programme and pledged to provide a dynamic administration.

Ranganathan, who was commissioner of the Bombay Municipal Corporation, said he received his appointment order on Wednesday morning. He had earlier served as the state's home secretary.
