Paswan, Bharti escape unhurt
as podium crashes: PTI

Union Communication Minister and Lok Jan Shakti leader Ram Vilas Paswan, Union Minister of State Uma Bharti, Lok Sabha member Jainarayan Nishad and Opposition leader in the Bihar Assembly, S K Modi, escaped unhurt when the podium erected for a conference suddenly collapsed at a school ground in Patna on Wednesday.

As Paswan, Bharati, Nishad and Modi arrived on the podium and waved to the crowd, at a conference to mark the birth anniversary of former Bihar chief minister Karpoori Thakur, Jan Shakti activists rushed to the podium.

The over-crowded podium suddenly collapsed, but no one was injured.

Paswan saw a conspiracy in the collapse and called for a probe.

He said several attempts had so been made on his life during his visit to Bihar during the Laloo-Rabri regime, but he escaped with minor injuries by the grace of god.

He said, ''No policemen were seen around the podium though we (Paswan and Bharti) enjoyed Z plus security.''
