S P Hinduja grilled for over 3 hours

S P Hinduja was grilled on Saturday for over three hours and fifteen minutes by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the Bofors pay-off case.

The other two Hinduja brothers, GP and PP, who had accompanied S P Hinduja to the CBI office, were sent back as the agency wanted to interrogate them separately.

S P Hinduja refused to speak to the media when he emerged out of the CBI headquarters after the marathon interrogation.

CBI spokesman S M Khan told newspersons that the questioning would continue on Sunday. He, however, did not mention which of the three brothers would be called.

He refused to divulge any details of today's interrogation, but said the line of questioning pertained to the money allegedly received by the brothers from AB Bofors.

Khan said the interrogation was conducted by DIG O P Galotra, who was assisted by DSP Keshav Mishra and a phalanx of junior staff.

While S P Hinduja was being interrogated, his son Subodh waited for him at the reception along with his cousin Veenu Hinduja, G P Hinduja's daughter.

Khan pointed out that the CBI is against the Hinduja brothers leaving the country, for that would "certainly hamper investigations."

He said the agency has moved an application in this context in Special Judge Ajit Bharihoke's court.
