Action on Srikrishna report by Feb-end

The Maharashtra government will complete formalities by the end of February to initiate action against those found guilty by the Srikrishna Commission in the 1992-93 communal riots in Bombay in the wake of the Babri Masjid demolition.

"No one will be spared as the Democratic Front government is committed to implement the Srikrishna Commission report," Minister of State for Home Kripashankar Singh told the Press Trust of India on Wednesday.

Singh said the state's law department had given a "favourable opinion" for taking action against Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray for his recent call to disfranchise Muslims.

The minister said the government was confident of handling any law-and-order problem arising out of action against Thackeray.
