4 killed in attack on
Bihar MLA's house: PTI

Four persons were killed in an exchange of fire following an attack on the house of Independent Bihar legislator Vibha Devi at Bittha village in Purnea district late on Tuesday night, police said.

State Director General of Police R R Prasad told PTI that criminals belonging to the Shanker Singh gang attacked the house of the MLA, who is the wife of another alleged ganglord, Avadhesh Mandal.

The assailants, after the life of Mandal, fired indiscriminately fire from sophisticated weapons, killing two persons.

In retaliatory fire by the police and private bodyguards of the MLA, two assailants were killed, Prasad said.

The assailants also torched 15 houses of the MLA's supporters, at adjoining Ramdiari village, Prasad said.

He said a company of the Bihar military police has been sent to the site.

The range DIG and police superintendent were camping at the village and raids were on to apprehend the culprits, Prasad said.
