'Chori, Chori' case verdict put off

The special court hearing the Chori Chori... case on Monday postponed its ruling on the police's seizure of the film's negatives.

The Bombay police had seized the prints on December 20, 2000 and the film's financier, Bharat Shah, had moved an application before the court against the move. Subsequently, Shah was arrested by the police for alleged links with the underworld, and the former's bail application will be decided by the high court later in the day.

The special court of designated judge A P Bhangale, which was hearing the case involving producer Nazeem Hasan Rizvi, for alleged links with the underworld, then directed Shah to file his written objections.

On December 21, the police produced before the court seized negative prints of the film following which the judge directed that a public notice be issued in English and Marathi newspapers to invite, within 15 days, claims, if any, to the seized property.
