Shahnawaz Hussain gets Coal ministry

Bharatiya Janata Party's Syed Shahnawaz Hussain has been given independent charge of the Coal Ministry following the resignation of Pattali Makkal Kaatchi nominee N T Shanmugham.

Hussain, the sole representative of the minority community from the BJP in the Council of Ministers, has been relieved of the charge of Minister of State in the ministry of Human Resource Development, a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique said on Thursday.

However, there was no mention about the other vacancy created by the resignation of E Ponnusamy, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, who also quit on Monday following his party's decision to get out of the National Democratic Alliance and align with the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagan.
