Security in New Delhi's diplomatic
enclave tightened

Security agencies in New Delhi's diplomatic enclave went in a tizzy again on Thursday evening after a youth was reportedly picked up near the United States embassy, official sources said.

They said that the youth was spotted by a police control room vehicle and subjected to some intense questioning. He was later taken to the Chanakya Puri police station for a thorough interrogation.

As many as five passports were recovered from his possession, the sources said. The person, identified as Satish, revealed that he was from a travel agency and was returning to his office after getting the travel documents of some clients stamped with visa.

An apparent "misfire" from a car on Wednesday night had led to panic near the Egyptian ambassador's residence in the diplomatic enclave, raising fears of a terrorist attack.
