Samata, JD (U), Lok Janashakti in merger talks

The Samata Party, the Janata Dal (United) and the Lok Janshakti have, in principal, agreed upon a merger plan.

Talking to reporters on Sunday, senior Samata Party leader and Union Railways Minister Nitish Kumar said JD-U president Sharad Yadav, Lok Janshakti leader Ramvilas Paswan and he himself had "in principle" agreed on unification of the three parties and steps were afoot to arrive at a final agreement on the merger.

The merger proposal would be taken up at a meeting of MPs of the three parties to be held in New Delhi soon, Nitish Kumar said.
