Lashkar shift its office from Lahore to PoK

Under growing pressure from the Musharraf government, Pakistan-based militant group Lashkar-e-Tayiba has shifted its headquarters from Lahore to Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Though LeT leaders said the organisation office was shifted because it needed more space, observers said the decision was evidence of Musharraf's mounting pressure on jihadi outfits, media reports said.

An LeT spokesman, meanwhile, said that the group was not going to give up its jihadi struggle in Kashmir.

He said the organisation would continue the struggle and no amount of pressure from the United States would stop it from fighting.

He said the LeT wanted to avoid a clash with the Pakistani government, which had been an ardent supporter of all Muslim freedom movements.

However, he said that in the present conditions a clash was possible because of the sudden wedge which had appeared between the interests of the Pakistani government and the Kashmir mujahideen.
