Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged mortar shelling and firing along the Line of Control in Poonch, Rajouri and Jammu sectors, where five Indian grass sheds and three Pakistani posts were damaged since Saturday night, defence sources in Srinagar said on Sunday.

The sources said Pakistani troops resorted to mortar shelling along LoC in Poonch, Rajouri and Jammu sectors and heavy shelling in Gontrian, Majdhar, Kerni and Shahpur areas of Poonch on Saturday night.

Five grass sheds caught fire in no man's land in Shahpur and were damaged in the shelling, the sources said, adding there was no loss of life or injury to anyone.

Indian troops retaliated to the firing and mortar shelling in Kerni, Bhimber Gali, Balakote, Laam, Bhawani, Noushera, Krishana Gati, Gambhir, Shahpur and Pallanwala areas along LoC in Jammu-Poonch-Rajouri sector and the exchange continued intermittently till Sunday afternoon.

Three Pakistani posts opposite Gali Kirni, Mendhar and Majdhar were damaged in the Indian action, the sources said.

Meanwhile, BSF and Pakistani Rangers exchanged intermittent firing till Sunday morning at 40 different border outposts and civilian places in Samba, Hiranagar and Akhnoor sub-sectors along the border in Jammu frontier, the sources said.

The border outposts and civilian areas targeted by Pakistani firing included Pittal, Pindi, Budwar, Sikhpura, Suchetgarh, Zero Point, Nawa Pin, Khor Kho, Pargwal, Karthola, Regal, Chachwal and S M Pura. However, no one was killed or injured in the exchange of fire on this side of the border, the sources said.
