Karunanidhi refuses to meet VHP leader Singhal

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam chief Muthuvel Karunanidhi on Friday refused to give an appointment to Vishwa Hindu Parishad general secretary Ashok Singhal, saying there was no need for his meeting Singhal as the DMK had not changed its stand on the Babri Masjid issue.

"DMK has not changed its stand that the mosque, which was demolished, should be reconstructed at the disputed site," he said.

He said Singhal had sought an appointment with him on Friday morning, but he had told him that there was no need for it.

"Even the NDA, in its national agenda for governance, had accepted the DMK's stand," he claimed.

DMK was the first one to oppose the Karseva and to condemn the demolition, he said

Under these circumstances, there was no need for him to meet Singhal, he added.
