Maoists in Nepal attacked the residence of a ruling party MP at Birendranagar in Surkhet district, as security forces intensified their operations and arrested 27 rebels.
The Nepali Congress MP, Hridayaram Thani, said the rebels exploded a powerful bomb at his house on Wednesday night, but nobody was hurt.
Night curfew had been imposed in the district after the incident.
Meanwhile, the army and police arrested 27 terrorists having links with the Maoist party, the defence ministry said.
While three terrorists were picked up from Bardia district, six arrests were made in Kabhrepalanchowk district, 14 in Bhaktapur district and four from Kathmandu's Manohara Campus on Wednesday.
The army also said it foiled an attempt by the Maoists to destroy an army post at Sakha in Rukum district.
