Doctors treating HIV patients test negative

Three resident doctors from G S V Medical College, Kanpur, who had received needle pricks, while treating suspected HIV patients, have tested negative for the deadly infection.

R K Gupta, principal of the medical college, provided the information after National AIDS Control Organisation of the ministry of health and family welfare inquired into the matter regarding the news item appearing in a section of the press on doctors being infected while treating HIV patients.

"All the resident/intern doctors were given post-exposure prophylaxis and are negative for HIV infection," he said.
