Ronen Sen will be new envoy to Pakistan

The government has decided to change heads of Indian missions in Germany, the United Kingdom, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

Ronen Sen, ambassador to Germany, is being appointed as the new high commissioner to Islamabad, highly placed sources in Delhi said on Friday.

The appointment of Sen, who will succeed Vijay Nambiar, has received clearance from the prime minister, the sources said.

However, Sen is expected to take charge in Islamabad only some time next year when Nambiar moves to New York as India's permanent tepresentative to the United Nations, replacing Kamlesh Sharma who is due to retire.

Nambiar took over from G Parthasarathy about a year ago.

Sen's place in Berlin is likely to be taken by Additional Secretary (UN) T C A Rangachari, a specialist on China. Rangachari has also had a long stint in Islamabad.

India's High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Gopal Gandhi will take charge in London from Nareshwar Dayal, who is on extension and due to retire in December end.

India's Ambassador in Paris Kanwal Sibal is slated to return to the headquarters as secretary (west) in place of R S Kalha, who retires in February next.
