Delhi drugs case: Wadhera remanded to judicial custody

Leading hotelier Neeraj Wadhera, who was arrested while allegedly soliciting with a drug peddler, was on Tuesday remanded to 14 days judicial custody by a city court, while three other co-accused were sent into police custody.

Wadhera, popularly known as Yanshi in social circle, was remanded to judicial custody till September 11, after the police said that they had completed his custodial interrogation.

The hotelier was arrested on Friday last, while he was soliciting with alleged drug peddler Najibullah alias Ali, an Afghan national, outside a hotel in Khan Market and was booked under Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act.

The court had remanded them to two days police custody on Sunday.

However, the police remand of Ali was extended for four days after the investigating officer informed the court that his custodial interrogation was needed to unearth the overseas racket involved in drug trafficking.

The prosecutors told the court that the Afghan national might be taken to Bombay, from where he used to procure the drugs.

The investigating officer said Ali also disclosed that he was procuring cocaine from Nigeria and Australia and supplying it to around 250 to 300 persons.

Two other foreign nationals, Chinadu Olisabnezi of Nigeria and Jonathan Williams of Malawi, who were arrested following interrogation of Wadhera and Ali, were also remanded to five days' police custody.
