MiG-21 crashes in Tezpur,
pilot escapes with minor injuries

A MiG-21 aircraft crashed in Assam's Sonitpur district on Tuesday but the pilot bailed out to safety, police said in Guwahati.

The IAF aircraft, which was on a routine flight, crashed near the Dipota grid sub-station at Kandurabari near Tezpur, they said adding there was no report of any loss of life or injuries and the pilot received only minor injuries.

However, the damage to the substation is estimated at about Rs five million, official sources said.

Senior police, civil and IAF officials have rushed to the accident site.
