Sanghamitra's flats searched by sleuths

Sanghamitra Bharali, whose claim that she had 'married' former Assam chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta had raised a political storm, has been brought to Guwahati from Bombay after sleuths of the Vigilance and Anti-corruption Bureau searched her flat in the metropolis.

She was brought to Guwahati on Sunday evening.

The sleuths searched her Rs five million flat at Andheri (west) in Bombay and seized the ownership papers, police said on Monday.

They also searched her luxurious Guwahati flat worth Rs 1.3 million, as the property was disproportionate to her income as an assistant language officer in the Assam assembly secretariat for the last eight years, the sources said.

Besides the flats, Bharali also owns two Maruti Zen cars, they added.
