Cabinet approves IIT status to Roorkee University

The Union Cabinet on Monday night approved a proposal to amend the provisions of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Act for according Roorkee University in Uttaranchal the status of an IIT.

This was announced by Law Minister Arun Jaitley after over an hour-long Cabinet meeting in Delhi.
