PWG ultras kill six dalits in Bihar

Ultras of the rebel People's War Group killed six dalits - three women and as many children - in Dhanarua police area of Patna district late Wednesday night, police said.

Armed henchmen of the rebel group, headed by Jaynandan Yadav, swooped on Dasmai village under Masaurhi subdivision and shot dead six dalits, the police said.

Among the victims were five-month-old Ranju, three-year-old Pradip Kumar and five-year-old Navdip Kumar.

The women were identified as Mukhiya Devi (70), Mungeshwari Devi (65) and Janaki Devi (35).

The killing was believed to be in retaliation to the mowing down of three PWG sympathisers at Khainia village under Masaurhi subdivision on August six.

One person, who was injured in the attack, was operated upon at a local hospital.

Meanwhile, the state government has announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 100,000 to dependents of each of the deceased, besides constructing pucca houses for them under the Indira Awas Yojana.
