Pak resorts to heavy shelling along LoC

Pakistani troops on Saturday resorted to heavy mortar shelling along the Line of Control in several forward areas in Poonch and Rajouri sectors, while one person was injured in cross-border firing along the international border in Jammu sector on Friday night, official sources said on Saturday.

They said the Indian troops retaliated and the exchange of fire continued till Saturday morning.

The shelling along the LoC took place in Sabzian, Noushera, Bhimbergali, Kerni, Mendhar, Krishna Gati and Balakote forward areas, they said.

They added terrified villagers in some areas of Noushera and Poonch abandoned their houses and sought refuge at safer places.

However, there was no loss of life or damage to property on this side, the sources said adding Pak troops also resorted to firing and shelling on border outposts and civilian areas all along IB in R S Pura, Samba, Hira Nagar and Akhnoor sub-sectors of Jammu frontier since Friday.
