Naxalites gun down six in Bihar village

In an apparent retaliation to the mowing down of three People's War Group supporters on Monday, PWG militants shot dead six sympathisers of the banned Maoist Communist Centre at Mathaurha village of Masaurhi sub-division in Patna district late on Thursday night, police said on Friday.

"A fairly large number of PWG rebels raided the village and shot dead six dalits suspected of having links with the MCC," Inspector General (Operations) Neelmani said.

He added that a few others received minor gunshot injuries.

He said the killing seems to be in retaliation to the mowing down of three PWG supporters by the MCC at Khainia village of the same sub-division.

Contingents of Central Reserve Police Force, Bihar military police and district armed police were conducting raids to apprehend the culprits, Neelmani said.
