Six shot dead in Bihar

Six persons were shot dead by a gang at Totwaka Dera village in Kaimur district on Tuesday, following which tension gripped the area, police said.

Armed members of the Maksudan Singh gang raided the village and abducted six villagers, Inspector General of Police (operations) Nilmani said.

The gang members then took the six to a field outside the village, tied their hands and shot them at point blank range.

Three of those killed belonged to the Yadava community, Nilmani said.

The IG said it was yet to be established whether the killings had any link with the panchayat polls in the state.

An operation has been launched to track the killers, he said.

Additional Director General of Police (Patna zone) Asis Ranjan Sinha, Superintendent of Police, Kaimur, S Khopade and other senior officials visited the village.
