Trishul short-range missile test-fired: PTI

Trishul, the indigenously developed short-range surface-to-air missile, was test-fired from the interim test range at Chandipur-on-sea near Balasore on Tuesday.

Official sources said the missile was tried to gauge its accuracy and various parameters.

It was fired from a mobile launcher and was supposed to hit a dummy object attached to a pilotless target aircraft.

Data is being collected and compiled from different tracking points and radars to analyse the result of the test-fire, the sources said.

The soil fuel-propelled Trishul, which has triple battlefield roles for the army, air force and navy, has a range of 500 metres to nine km with the capacity of carrying 15 kg of warhead.

Scientists of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) from New Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad were present during the test-firing.
