US may declare Pak a terrorist state: PTI

United States President Bill Clinton has said Pakistan, which is aiding and abetting terrorism in India, may have to be declared a terrorist state.

The president made the comment during a recent fund-raiser meeting on the west coast, in which the Indo-American Political Foundation, represented by its president Sunil Aghi, and others participated.

A press release issued by the foundation quoted Clinton as saying, "We need to contain terrorism around the world."

When Aghi said that Pakistan needed to be declared a terrorist state in view of its continued support to terrorism, Clinton replied, "We don't know if that is effective, but at some point we may have to do that", according to the release.

Clinton also suggested the inclusion of Indian Americans in the cabinet if Vice-President Al Gore wins the presidential elections.

Gore's choice of Jo Lieberman, a Jew, as his vice-presidential mate, could lead to induction of Indo-Americans to the cabinet if Gore is elected to power, he said.

Clinton has appointed Indian Americans as senior officials but not as cabinet ministers.
