Five killed in blast in Jammu

Five people were killed on the spot and four others injured, when an IED planted by militants near a sulphur spring at village Tatapani, near Ramban in the Jammu region, went off early Saturday morning.

The inspector general, Jammu, R V Raju, said soon after the incident, militants opened fire from the adjoining hills on security forces who rushed to the spot, and at the time of writing the two sides are involved in a major exchange of fire.

The four persons who were injured in the blast have been rushed to hospital, where the condition of two of them is stated to be serious.
