Security around Thackeray's residence beefed up

E-Mail this report to a friend

Security has been beefed up around 'Matoshree', the residence of Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray at Bandra in north-east Bombay, following reports of an alleged plot by two agents of Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence to blow it up.

Special Branch sources of Bombay CID on Saturday confirmed that security has been tightened around the area but refused to reveal details or confirm reports of the alleged threat.

However, a front-page report in the Sena mouthpiece Saamna, on Saturday, claimed that the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Intelligence Bureau had unearthed a plot to blow up the Bandra residence of the Sena supremo.

The plot came to light when police recovered a map of the residence from two alleged ISI agents, who were apprehended at Jaipur recently, it said.

The duo had earlier arrived in Bombay and was taken to 'Matoshree' with the help of an aide, following which they were able to chalk out the entire map of the area. They were on their way to Bombay to carry out the task when they were apprehended at the Rajasthan border, the report added.
