Curfew relaxed in DariapurCurfew was relaxed in the Dariapur locality of the walled city for six hours from 0800 hours (IST) on Tuesday after the situation remained peaceful after the violence during civic elections to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation resulting in the death of seven persons on Sunday. The situation in the curfew-bound area was under control and no untoward incident has been reported since Monday, police said. The curfew was imposed in the sensitive Dariapur area after group clashes broke out between Bharatiya Janata Party and Shiv Sena activists over casting of 'bogus' votes at a booth on Jordan Road. Meanwhile, two Sena Central ministers - Manohar Joshi and Suresh Prabhu - visited the trouble spot, where the son of Shiv Sena candidate Vinod Patel Hardik was injured in police firing, on Monday. The ministers met Gujarat Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel and expressed concern over 'inadequate' police bandobast in the Dariapur area during the civic polls. They also met the people injured in the violence at the hospital where they had been admitted. Meanwhile, re-polling in nine booths of Nava Vadach area of the city, where the polling was suspended on Sunday following the incidents of booth capturing and bogus voting, began on a peaceful note under heavy police bandobast, official sources said.
