Another armyman held for ISI links in LucknowSharat Pradhan in Lucknow The special task force of the Uttar Pradesh police arrested another armyman on Wednesday in connection with the Pakistani spying racket that was busted in Lucknow last week. Ram Dev Yadav had retired as a subedar only last month. Wednesday's arrest takes the number of those involved in the Pakistani Inter Services Intelligence-sponsored racket to nine. They include four ex-servicemen and two serving military personnel. Baring a dismissed major, the rest were either junior commissioned officers or non-commissioned officers. While STF sleuths nabbed a serving army official in Lucknow, they have identified another, who was recently transferred to Jalandhar. Without naming him, a senior STF official said, "We have already informed the military authorities about him and he is in their custody." According to STF superintendent of police Arun Kumar, "Confessions by Yadav as well as the others have established clear links with ISI contacts in Nepal, from where the Pakistani agency is running a large operation." He said , "A civilian, Shamim Ahmad Khan, said in his statement that he had been taken to Kathmandu to meet an ISI agent employed in the Pakistani embassy." "The military personnel were roped in by ISI agents by offers of money and promises of jobs for their children", Kumar said.
