By Our Correspondent in Auranagabad

One Central Reserve Police Force jawan and two police constables were stabbed in Nanded district on Thursday, even as the district administration struggled to contain the violence sparked off Tuesday following the stoning of a Ganapati immersion procession by some miscreants.

The stabbings took place when an angry mob attacked a patrol party in the Itwara area of the town.

The area has been under curfew for two days now.

In another incident, two more people were stabbed in Srinagar area of the town after rioters attacked them and set one shop on fire.

The district administration has imposed a night curfew in the state. The Shiv Sena has given a bandh call in the neighbouring district of Parbhani on Saturday.
