MCC activists gun down nine persons in Bihar

E-Mail this report to a friend

In a fresh outbreak of Naxalite violence, activists of the outlawed Maoist Communist Centre gunned down nine persons at Narkopi village, 50 km from Ranchi in south Bihar, on Wednesday.

Director General of Police K A Jacob said heavily armed MCC men swooped on the village and gunned down nine persons -- six Muslims and three tribals -- and later beheaded them.

He said the six Muslims were suspected to be supporters of the banned extremist Ali Sena, a private militia of the minorities in south Bihar.

The MCC and the Ali Sena are locked in a battle for supremacy in the region.

Inspector General of Police, Chhotanagpur, Rameshwar Oram and senior police and district officials visited the scene of the massacre.

Police launched combing operations to track down the killers.

Chief Minister Rabri Devi and Rashtriya Janata Dal president Laloo Prasad Yadav condemned the killings. The chief minister directed the police to immediately arrest the perpetrators of the gruesome crime.
