Two killed during Ganesh revelry in Bombay, Thane: PTI

Tragedy struck Ganesh immersion revelry as two persons, including a five-year-old girl, were killed and three injured in Bombay and adjoining Thane district on Tuesday night.

At Tilak Nagar in north-east Bombay, a person fell off a truck carrying a Ganesh idol for immersion, the police said, adding that the person, identified as Ramu, was rushed to Rajawadi hospital, where he was pronounced dead on admission.

At Kalyan in Thane, Rani Kale (5), who was dancing on the road as part of a procession, was run over by an unmanned truck.

The mishap occurred when the truck reversed after the driver alighted, the police said, adding that two children were injured.

In another incident, a person was hit with iron rods following an altercation during an immersion procession at Vakola, north-west Bombay, police said, adding that he was yet to be identified.

The police are looking out for four accused in this connection.
