Nobel Museum scouts for Tagore artefacts: PTI

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Nobel Museum has identified a series of artefacts related to the life and times of poet laureate Rabindranath Tagore to be exhibited at the 'Nobel Exhibition' at Stockholm in February 2001.

A two member team, including the director of the museum, recently flew down to browse through hundreds of daily-use articles, letters and pieces of literature preserved at the Shantiniketan-based Viswa-Bharati University, founded by the bard.

"The team made a meticulous survey of the precious articles and zeroed down on a series of items to be exhibited at the 2001 show specifically focussing on a special theme -- creative culture," Viswa-Bharati Vice-Chancellor Dilip Sinha told PTI.

Later, a separate exhibition will feature articles related to Nobel prize winner Amartya Sen, another of Bengal's great sons and alumnus of Viswa-Bharati, Sinha said.

"During their stay here, the team also went around to collect information on the possible exhibits that could reflect the life and works of Sen," he said.

The exhibits related to Tagore will be flown in for the 2001 show later this year, Sinha said.
