Pak troops fire shells at Kupwara

Pakistani troops opened heavy shelling on forward positions along the Line of Control in Kupwara sector on Thursday night damaging some houses, shops and a mosque, official sources said on Friday.

Indian troops retaliated in which Pakistani troops suffered some casualties, the exact number of which was not known, the sources said.

However, there was no loss of life on the Indian side, they said.

The shelling was reported throughout the night in Tangdhar, Teetwal, Keran and Karnah sub-sectors.

Tangdhar and Kringla village of Teetwal were the worst affected by Pakistani shelling where 24 houses, six shops and a mosque were damaged, the sources said.
