Christian priest's house attacked in Haryana: PTI

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) on Friday alleged a Christian priest's house was attacked by miscreants in Ganaur village of Haryana on September 4 and his neighbour, who was hit by the assailants, died in a Delhi hospital the next day.

About 20 miscreants attacked the residence of Father Susheel of the King of Christ Church in Ganaur village at 0045 hours and even as an alert watchman intervened, the assailants beat up a neighbour Chandrapal, a witness to the attack, and his family, CBCI spokesman Dominic Emmanuel alleged in a statement in New Delhi.

Chandrapal was taken to Panipat and later shifted to a Delhi hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries despite a brain surgery, the statement said.

A delegation of the Archdiocese of Delhi, to which the Church belongs, visited the scene of the alleged attack and condemned the incident.

"Despite constant assurances from the Centre, the attacks seem to be continuing and the Christian community still lives in fear," Victor D' Souza, the administrator of the diocese said, according to a CBCI release.
