Dissidence in BJP's Baroda unit: 29 expelled

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Bharatiya Janata Party's Baroda district president K K Shah today expelled 29 party workers, including 11 former councillors, from the party for six years for anti-party activities.

Party spokesperson Vanraj Shah said the party high command has refused to allot tickets to these councillors for the September 17 corporation elections and in retaliation they filed their nominations papers as rebel candidates.

They had been issued show-cause notices and asked to withdraw their nominations, but since they refused to do so Shah had sought the permission from state party president Rajendrasinh Rana to take the action against them.

Among the expelled party workers are (all former councillors): Munidevi Sharma, R K Patel, Kishor Rana, Sadanand Desai, Kailasbhai Mehta, Kiranben Mehta, Kanubhai Acharya, Yogeshbhai Patel (Dhabal), Warbhai Bharwar, Arunaben Pandya and Ratilal Desai.
