Five killed by speeding train near Bombay

Five persons were killed while six others were injured, two of them seriously, when a speeding train ran over them between Khardi and Atgaon stations on Central Railway, nearly 110 km from Bombay.

According to the railway control room here the incident took place at around 0627 hrs on Friday, on the Kalyan-Kasara route.

Sources said that the deceased were walking over the tracks when the speeding train ran over them. Two of the injured are admitted to a Thane hospital while four others are undergoing treatment at a Shahapur hospital.

Top police and railway officials have rushed to the spot and further investigations were in progress, according to the sources.
