Farooq moots NDA meet on RSS issue

Onkar Singh in New Delhi

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah on Friday sounded a veiled warning to the Bharatiya Janata Party, when he mooted a meeting of the National Democratic Alliance to discuss the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh issue.

Talking to newspersons in New Delhi before his meeting with the Planning Commission, the chief minister said, "A lot of talk has been going on over the RSS, and I feel it is time the NDA gets together to discuss the issue. Who knows, maybe the time has come to take some fresh decisions."

Asked if he has brought his misgivings to the notice of the prime minister, Abdullah said, "No. I intend to call on him in New Delhi later in the day, but that is only to inquire after his health. But I intend to raise the issue with him once he returns to the capital."
