Army officer goes berserk,
kills five in Guwahati

Five people, including four army personnel, were killed and 10 injured when an undertrial officer snatched two automatic guns from his guards and started firing indiscriminately at the Guwahati railway station Friday evening.

The officer was being escorted to Tinsukia-bound inter-city express when he snatched two Ak-47 rifles from his guards and went on a shooting spree on platform number four.

His guards fired back and five people were killed in the cross-fire, police said.

The officer has been arrested.

The injured have been admitted to the Guwahati Medical College Hospital.
