Arrested ex-ED official says he is victim of conspiracy

Former deputy director in the Enforcement Directorate Ashok Aggarwal on Thursday alleged he was the victim of a conspiracy hatched by Abhishek Verma, son of a former Rajya Sabha member.

While being brought to Central Bureau of Investigation headquarters in New Delhi on Thursday evening after being remanded to four days of CBI custody, Aggarwal, dressed in his night suit, said, "I am a victim of conspiracy of Abhishek."

"I know I will come clean after the legal process is completed," he added.

The former ED official said it was his duty to help the CBI.

Both he and his brother, Vijay Aggarwal, were trying to hide their faces from mediapersons and their cameras.

In a pre-dawn swoop, sleuths of the Special Investigating Unit arrested both the brothers from their Paschim Vihar residence on charges of amassing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.
