BMC union asks for advance on ex-gratia

Leader of Municipal Mazdoor Union Sharad Rao on Thursday said that the union has requested the civic administration to give an advance of Rs 5000 in view of the court order restraining the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation administration from making any ex-gratia payment.

A deputation of union members met Additional Municipal Commissioner Subodh Kumar and placed their request before him. They were hopeful that the administration would concede to their request.

Rao, at a press conference in Bombay, alleged that the necessary papers regarding the case, which came up on Wednesday, were not supplied to the union and also said the financial position of the BMC was not properly presented before the court.

Over 1,00,000 civic employees will not get the ex-gratia payment as a result of the court orders.
